White House Faith-Based and Community Initiative Grant Information The following list of over 150 programs represents many of the programs, offered by various Federal agencies, of interest to small, faith-based and community groups. However, there may be other programs in these or other agencies that we have not yet listed. Additional programs will be added over time. Visit www.fbci.gov every now and then to search an updated list. You can also visit www.grants.gov and www.fedbizopps.gov. The programs that follow are organized into general categories. In each category, you will find programs from several different Federal agencies. For example, in the Elders in Need category are programs operated by the Departments of HHS and HUD. At the beginning of each category are programs for which you make application directly to one of the Federal agencies. In every case, the contact information in the listing is a good place to start for learning about the application process and other details about the program. You will find "formula grant programs" at the end of most categories. These are the programs in which the Federal government makes large grants available to States and local governments. These States and localities then award grants themselves to grassroots and other organizations. Totaling more than $50 billion, formula grants represent a wide range of funding opportunities. To learn about these opportunities, you will need to get in touch with your local and State agencies responsible for managing these programs. For more information resources on grants, please refer to the "Additional Grants Resources" section at the end of this booklet. For more information on the grants process, please click here.

RE: INTRODUCTION AND PARTNERSHIP
I am a Pastor writing from
Malawi Central Africa. I am 34 year old, married and survived by four
children.
I came to the Lord in the year 1992 and started Ministering in 1994. I went
to the Bible School in 2002 and was graduated and ordained in to full time
Ministry in 2004. I am currently running a small Church in one of the
township in
Blantyre City ,to the Southern Region of
Malawi. It is a very small Church with a membership of about 45
people, but with other branches in other nearby districts.
I new you through Charisma Magazine and I want to know more about your
Ministry because I have some Items that I want you to help me.
Malawi like some other African Countries, is one country that there’s
a great need for the gospel to be preached. There are yet so many places and
districts where people are unreached and unchurched.
This is very terrible in the remote areas. The reason behind this is that in
the remote areas, they don’t have crusades or revival meetings which are
conducted. This is because all famous preachers either from abroad or within
do not bother to go there just because there are no necessary facilities
such as electricity, good roads, good accommodations etc, and thus all
meetings are done in the urban. This leaves the rural areas terribly under
prey to the increase of Islamic Religion, heathenism and other wicked
traditions. Islam one of the fast growing religion in our country. Recent
research has shown that there are about 2 million Muslims in our country of
about 12 million people. This so due to access of resources that the Muslims
have. Unlike Christians, Muslims are standing a better chance because of so
many Indians that are occupying our Nation. They are operating good business
and use their resources to attract Christians into their religion. The
chronic hunger which has been in our country over the past 10 years has
contributed a lot to the growth of this religion. They have their own
strategies which they use to attract Christians or non Christians to their
faith. They do distribute boreholes, clothes food, blankets and so on. On
the other hand these Indians have a tendency of employing those who are of
their faith in great number than those of different faith.
They have their own schools where they teach children their faith. After
learning they provide them with free food and other gifts. When Christian
children / parents see this, they are tempted to join or send their children
there. These and other more have contributed a lot. As I am writing, there
are some districts such as Mangochi, Machinga, Balaka, Nkhotakota, and of
Zomba where you can hardly find Churches. But contrary, Mosques are
at every Kilometer or less. In these districts to preach the gospel is not
easy.
The other problem concerned is distribution of literatures. On this, allow
me first to thank the foreign organizations and ministries or individuals
who time to time send their Christian literatures such as books, tracks,
magazines, courses etc. all their gifts to reach here and we have seen
people receiving the books free of charge. But the problem is that these are
all in English. So many people were especially in the remote areas don’t
read or understand English. But the Muslims, because they have their own
education centers, they teach their young ones on how to read both English
as well their religious language, Arabic. To them it is very easy to spread
their faith even in literatures.
On the other hand due to the high spread of HIV/AIDS in the country, so many
children are orphans who are left without any care. The aged and the widows
are also tremendously growing in numbers. These, in failing to pay for
school fees, to provide food for their families, just tend to sort for
themselves into where they can get help, which the Muslims seen to be the
right and urgent response.
This is why I am on this partnership mobilization so that we can get some
people who can stand with us to defend our Christian faith. The great
commission of our Lord Jesus Christ cannot be accomplished by one person or
Church / Ministry alone.
The Bible says, two are better then one,’’ and also that, ‘’ A
prophet is not accepted in his own country. ‘’We need people to join with us
hands so that we can reach
Malawi with the gospel especially in the remote areas. We need people
who can come to
Malawi and help us in Church growth and training. We need well
wishers who can assist us with Christian literatures and permit and sponsor
us to be translated in Chichewa for distribution in the rural areas.
We need people who can support our Pastors and Leaders for them to stand
firmly in the work of the Lord. So many Pastors / servants are neglecting
their job go for other things just because of poverty.
I got your contract through Pastor Banda. He is a friend of mine and after
he learnt and saw our needs, he encouraged us to write you for partnership.
We hope our request will be favorably granted. We would also like to know
more about your ministry. May God Richly bless you as soon as possible.
Yours in His Grace.
